Today ERT, the Greek Broadcaster, conducted the press conference about the Greek selection.

ERT decided this year to select directly Sakis Rouvas. This was announced during summer and was the first participant announcement for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.

Three songs are about to be submitted by Dimitris Kontopoulos, the composer of ‘Shady Lady’ sang by Ani Lorak, in Belgrade, Serbia, in a national selection which is estimated in middle February (16 to 18/02/09).

Sakis, told during the conference that the Eurovision experience was one of his biggest during his career. It was also mentioned that Fokas Evaggelinos will work exclusively with Sakis.
As for Kalomoira - the Greek participant of last year - who left Greece and her career to return to her family in the USA, he told that he really admires her.

Hosts and presenters of the conference were Maggira sisters who hosted last year the Greek selection and commended Eurovision 2008 for the Greek Broadcaster. They are expected to present the selection this year as well.

Meanwhile, Sakis will present the Greek version of the show ‘X-Factor’. He recently came back from the USA where he filmed a psycological thriller movie (he has filmed one more in Greece), he begins his night appearances with the Maggira sisters in middle November and his fiance expects his baby in the next few months.

This will be the second time Sakis goes to Eurovision after his participation in 2004, with the song ‘Shake it’, in Istanbul, Turkey.

Back in 2004 Sakis succeeded getting the third place just right after Željko Joksimović with the song ‘Lane Moje’ for Serbia & Montenegro in the 2nd place and Ruslana with her ‘Wild Dances’ who moved from the 1st position the Contest to Kiev, Ukraine.
